Yesterday, as I sat in a movie theatre, stuffing my face with a fresh, Nathan's hot dog (ok, let's be honest - no hot dog is fresh). I was ready to watch the film, when my mind was blown as a preview for an upcoming movie flashed across the screen.
No, I'm not going to tell you how horrible and sinful it was - in fact, the preview started off with a prominent actress holding the famous-bestselling "Purpose Driven Life" in her hands. If that wasn't enough, the popular Christian Hillsong tune "Oceans" began playing and continued throughout the entire preview.
I don't know why, but I was stunned. I could feel the Holy Spirit in that theatre. People moved around uncomfortably, not knowing how to react to what was being fed to them through the speakers and the screen, but you could feel the presence of one thing: HOPE.
I couldn't help but think to myself, "what amazing times we live in."
You know, there's a lot of "wrong" happening in the world today. With social issues such as racism, gender-preference equality, mass shootings, persecution, political policies - the news has more than enough crap to feed us every day to convince us that the world is going to hell. Believe me - my Facebook feed is enough to depress the happiest of people.
And I think it's called a "feed" for a reason.
I wonder what "feed" we're looking at. I wonder if we're looking at the wrong headlines.
Just in the past few months, I have watched and been a part of conferences that were held in stadiums. Coliseums are being packed out by thousands and thousands of people who are all coming to be a part of one thing: worshipping God and celebrating His Word. Churches and movements such as Hillsong, IHOP, Elevation, Bethel, Free Chapel, C3, Jesus Culture and so many more are to the point of selling out because the demand for such gatherings are so high, they can't fit everyone!
Think about the book of Acts - "3,000 were added" - "5,000 came to Christ that day..." we are living in BIBLICAL TIMES! God is moving in the earth. Thousands upon thousands of people are coming to Jesus everyday. There is hope and expectation! Worship music is even making it's way back into Hollywood - and Hollywood has responded by choosing to document IN FILM the movement that is happening at Hillsong to display for the world to see!
If you think the world is going to hell, you might need to check what you're "FEEDING" your mind and your spirit today.
Yes, there will always be brokenness in the earth - but stop for a second to realize that though the darkness rages against us, the light burns even brighter to overtake the darkness. God is on the move, and it's only just the beginning.
I believe we are on the brink of the next, Great Awakening. Let's start speaking God's truth - let's release hope into our nation.
Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man. Psalm 66:5
